What is emotional management?

Emotions are spontaneous psychophysiological reactions of varying intensity. They are neither positive nor negative, but serve as internal signals that alert us to our needs and prompt us to act. We cannot always control our emotions, but we can learn to control our actions. Emotional management involves developing the ability to recognize, understand, and respond to these emotional signals healthily. It consists in learning to:

  • Slow down: use techniques such as mindfulness and deep breathing to pause and connect with your present emotions without acting impulsively.
  • Observe: recognize the emotion, its location in the body, what triggered it, and the message it conveys.
  • Choose: take actions aligned with your values while avoiding ineffective coping mechanisms (like avoidance, alcohol/drug use, impulsive acts, or isolation) which may soothe temporarily but increase suffering in the long run.

It is also crucial to take distance from “thinking traps”–negative or unhelpful thoughts that amplify emotions and lead to avoidance.

Neurofeedback: An Innovative Approach for Lasting Balance

Fixed

Neurofeedback is a non-invasive, scientifically validated method–rated 5/5 in the Evidence-Based Practice in Biofeedback and Neurofeedback, 4th Edition–that trains the brain to optimize its electrical activity. By targeting regions and networks involved in emotional regulation, anxiety, and stress, it promotes emotional balance, mood stabilization, and a calmer mind. The benefits are typically long-lasting and can even continue to improve after training has ended.

Regain emotional balance and serenity through Neurofeedback

Whether you’re a young adult, a parent, or a professional, dealing with intense emotions, chronic stress, or anxiety can make every day feel like an uphill battle. These difficulties may stem from specific patterns of brain functioning. Neurofeedback offers a concrete path toward greater serenity and control.

“I finally found a method that helps me stay emotionally stable and make more thoughtful decisions. It’s changing how I see the future.”

Give your child lasting emotional balance and better stress management

Being the parent of a child facing intense mood swings, frequent irritability, or generalized anxiety can be exhausting and worrying. These challenges may stem from brain imbalances that can be improved. Neurofeedback offers a solution for your child’s emotional balance and behavioral well-being.

“Our daughter is calmer, her outbursts are less frequent, and she sleeps much better. It’s an incredible relief for our whole family. Neurofeedback truly changed our daily life.”

Master your emotions and reduce stress to thrive in your studies and social life

In university or early in your career, intense mood swings, paralyzing anxiety, or chronic stress can make organization, relationships, and success more difficult. Many young adults feel out of sync, struggling to maintain emotional balance and focus.

“After a few sessions, I regained mental clarity and inner peace. The anxious thoughts fade away, and I finally feel able to handle my studies and social life with confidence.”

Enhance your emotional management and reduce work-related stress with Neurofeedback

As a professional, the demands are high, and maintaining performance is essential. Managing mood swings, persistent anxiety, chronic stress, or intense emotional reactions can harm your focus, relationships with colleagues, and career progress. This emotional burden is not inevitable–it can be effectively addressed through neurofeedback.

“Neuroperforma training was a revelation. I’m calmer, more focused, and handle professional challenges with new confidence. My quality of life at work and home has greatly improved.”

What We Do

How Our Neurofeedback Method Optimizes Your Emotional Management

Neurofeedback is a non-invasive method that trains the brain to optimize its electrical functioning. By targeting the regions and networks involved in emotional regulation, anxiety, and stress, it helps reduce symptoms sustainably and achieve inner balance.

Your journey begins with a complimentary 30-minute phone consultation with one of our advisors, who will help you understand your needs and goals.

You’ll meet a qualified psychologist or neuropsychologist. This interview assesses your difficulties and clarifies your objectives for emotional management.

A certified medical electrophysiology technologist performs a 30- to 45-minute EEG evaluation. Non-invasive, painless sensors are placed on your scalp to measure electrical activity in real time.

Our team of specialists (psychologists and neuropsychologists) conducts a detailed analysis of your EEGq data. You’ll receive a comprehensive written report outlining your brain activity, its connections to your emotional challenges, and personalized recommendations for a training program.

Each training program consists of at least 12 sessions per concern. During each 50-minute session, electrode sensors capture your brain activity. When your brain reaches desired patterns, you receive an immediate reward through sound or video feedback. At Neuroperforma, we utilize 19-electrode equipment capable of simultaneously reading, analyzing, and training 12,700 brain sites in 3D.

Regular progress assessments ensure that the training plan is adapted to your evolution.

The capacities strengthened through neurofeedback are typically long-lasting and may continue to improve even after the program ends.

FAQ – Emotional Management & Neurofeedback

1

How exactly does neurofeedback help improve emotional regulation?

Neurofeedback is a non-invasive training method that measures your brain’s electrical activity in real time and reinforces, through rewards, the wave patterns linked to calmness, clarity, and control. Over several sessions, this approach leads to: Reduced anxiety and reactivity, A more stable mood and fewer ruminations, Better impulse control, Improved, more restorative sleep supporting emotional balance.

2

Is it proven and recognized?

Yes. Neurofeedback is rated 5/5 by the Evidence-Based Practice in Neurofeedback and Biofeedback 2023 guide. In clinical settings, an improvement of over 90% is commonly observed within 8-12 weeks (1-2 sessions per week). It’s officially recognized by the Ordre des psychologues du Quebec as a technique used by psychologists.

3

Is it painful? Do you send shocks to the brain?

No. There are no shocks or stimulations. The electrodes act like antennas–they only measure brain activity. The method is non-invasive and painless.

4

Are there side effects?

Generally, no. Occasionally: temporary fatigue, mild headaches, or vivid dreams as the brain adjusts. These effects are short-lived. Each program is monitored by professionals who adjust protocols if needed.

5

Are the results lasting?

Yes, results are typically long-lasting and can continue improving months after the end of training, thanks to neuroplasticity. Long-term studies show that benefits can be maintained for years.

6

What's special about Neuroperforma's 19-electrode EEG?

Unlike 1-2 electrode systems, our 19-electrode EEG reads and trains up to 12,700 sites in 3D, targeting brain networks and communication–not just isolated points. The result: a much more detailed brain analysis, better-tailored protocols, higher success rates, and up to 50% fewer sessions required compared to traditional systems.
